This programme covers a great deal of territory within Corporate. From Relationship Banking to Marine Finance, you could find yourself involved in some of the most innovative and exciting aspects of business finance. Whether you're interested in start ups or the biggest mergers around, you'll need to demonstrate creativity and a dedication to team work supported by strong interpersonal skills.
What you'll be doing
The Corporate Banking Scheme offers two main profiles:
- Relationship Management – as part of one of our corporate teams, you may be involved with clients, or help manage a wide range of in–house initiatives. In all cases, you'll have the opportunity to work in a broad range of business areas including Relationship Banking, Commercial (Trading) and Real Estate, Finance, Credit, Risk, Motor and Operations Management.
- Asset–led – more analytical in nature, these roles also include a large element of negotiation and emphasise business relationships. You'll be involved in disciplines like market research, management information and financial modelling. Graduate schemes in this area can include our Infrastructure, Equity, Integrated and Leveraged Finance businesses.
By the end of the scheme, you'll be ready to move into a professional role within Corporate.
Your development
you'll work to a personal development plan specifically tailored to our graduates. It combines formal learning with on–the–job training that will help you grow at an amazing pace. Through your four six–month placements, you'll explore different parts of our business and experience first–hand just how wide–ranging the opportunities HBOS offers really are. Each time your placement changes, you might need to re–locate. Our main operations are in Edinburgh and London, but we have offices in other cities throughout the UK. you'll also be working toward the CIOBS qualification from the Chartered Institute of Banking in Scotland.
What you'll achieve
As you progress, you'll learn more about managing relationships both with clients and with your colleagues at HBOS. you'll also enjoy opportunities to prepare deals and complete research and analysis. We're always looking for future leaders and this scheme is designed to help you achieve new levels of personal as well as professional confidence. Getting involved in our Corporate Responsibility initiatives will open even more doors for you. Here, you'll experience another aspect of our business – one that will encourage you to share our dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and on the communities we work in. After you have finished your graduate programme, you may choose to move into an analytical or relationship management role. Where you go after that is up to you, but many of our graduates enjoy rapid progression.
