This scheme covers a number of our business areas including, Risk Operations, Business Risk, Planning & Performance as well as Product Teams like Mortgages, Banking, Savings, Cards and Loans.
What you'll be doing
Above all, we ask our graduates to apply their skills to ensuring that our products and services are commercially robust, right for our customers and minimise HBOS' exposure to financial risk. There are four main areas:
- Risk Operations focused on fraud, and non–payment of debts, you'll be in a position to influence the success of our business.
- Business Risk you'll be involved in managing principal risk types for the entire retail estate.
- Planning & Performance Playing a part in managing projects across our brands, you'll be involved in completing performance and market analyses.
- Product Teams Whether you're working in Banking, Savings, Mortgages, Cards or Loans, you'll play a part in the research, development and delivery of new consumer products within HBOS Retail
Your development
In this scheme, people skills are just as valuable as technical knowledge. A positive attitude is a real asset and we'll certainly expect you to get stuck in and help us optimise our business performance. you'll gain a solid overview of how your business area works, while a combination of on–the–job and technical training is also on offer. we'll also encourage you to pursue further qualifications if they're part of your career path or you need them for a particular role. What's more, a manager will help you with your day–to–day development and a mentor will increase your knowledge of your chosen business area.
What you'll achieve
As you progress, you'll develop your ability to communicate and influence senior decision makers. What's more, you'll learn to interpret the complex financial and operational information behind business decisions and explore innovative approaches to products and customer interactions. you'll also be part of a culture where people are engaged and consulted. At the end of the scheme, you'll combine a track record of delivering results with experience as an analyst and it's likely you'll be ready for a role as a Senior Analyst or for another management position. After a few years, you could be in a senior position almost anywhere in HBOS. It all depends on your ambition, drive and attitude.
