HBOS Application Process

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to apply to whichever scheme you choose. At the same time, we're also concerned about the environment and keeping the use of paper to a minimum. So, most of our application process can be done quickly and efficiently on–line. For you, it's a streamlined experience. For us, it's a way of using innovation to target the people that will make HBOS a success in the future. you'll find an outline of what you can expect here.

Closing date for applications is 31st March 2008

Step 1 – Register on–line and answer questions about your education that determine your eligibility for our schemes.

Step 2 – Complete an on–line application form and answer a series of competency–based questions. Treasury candidates will undergo a slightly different process.

Step 3 – At this point, we'll let you know if you've been successful. If you have, you'll be invited to take part in a numerical reasoning test. Pass this test and you'll be asked to complete our verbal reasoning test. These are both available on–line.

Step 4 – If you are successful after the online tests you will be asked to complete a competency–based telephone interview. It takes about thirty minutes and is designed to give you an opportunity to demonstrate the core behaviours that we believe are important to your success at HBOS.

Step 5 – If you're successful, you could be invited to an assessment centre where we'll give you different exercises to test your personal skills. For example, you might be asked to deliver a presentation or take part in a group exercise, or both.

Keeping in touch

We believe that communicating with you clearly and effectively is all part of making your experience of HBOS a positive one – whatever the outcome. That's why we'll respond to your queries quickly and pass on your results as soon as we have them.
