For an environment like this one, you have to be accurate and objective. "Having joined the Graduate Scheme in 2005, I spent an initial period in Corporate Sales and have been in Structuring for almost 2 years. Right now, I'm in exotics. Here, our desk trades in interest rate derivatives across a range of currencies with different payoff types. It's a challenging setting and executing multiple deals all at once while ensuring they've been correctly hedged and priced is probably the most complex and difficult part of my job."

"It's easy to work well when your P & L is up. It's far more challenging when you've made a loss."

Where development and progress go hand–in–hand. "Over the next two years, I'll be working toward my MSc at Imperial College, London. While I pursue the more academic side of my development, I'll continue to use my time at work to increase my knowledge of trading and gain more quantitative experience. My aim is to be given more complex products to hedge and even greater responsibility. I feel confident about the future."
