Flexibility and focus are the two most important skills you need. "I've had to be really open–minded about learning new things. I started out in Development and QA in the Testing team. From there, I moved on to Superstructure where I learned about how the various systems in Treasury interconnect. Right now, I'm part of a team of twenty encompassing developers, support staff and business analysts. The work is fast–paced and challenging. I'm constantly being exposed to new environments, applications and programming languages.

"After the initial one–week HBOS Treasury Primer and two weeks at the London Stock Exchange, I've attended a course in C# to help me with project work in the Small Apps Development Team. My Learning and Development Advisor has also arranged other courses on presentation skills and time management as well as C++ training. Personal and professional skills are so important to what's offered here. Over the next few years, I see myself gaining more development and support experience with a focus on learning more about the business products that Treasury are involved with."
