Plenty of help is always available "Right now, I work on the International Fixed Income Desk. It's a small desk with just two Fund Managers. We work closely with the European Fixed Income Desk as well as the Currency Team. Your colleagues have time to help you solve problems and it's a welcoming environment. At the same time, I've been given a lot of responsibility and that means I've been able to develop my skills quickly and become part of the team. we're definitely required to perform, but I also benefit from the support I need to learn. I've been involved in several key projects within Insight. The major one revolved around the testing of our momentum tracking system that tracks trends in bond prices. It's one of the most important technical models used on the International Desk."
there's always something happening. "On the job, my technical skills are improving quickly. I have the opportunity to attend a range of courses and sit exams including the CFA Level I exam which I have just completed. I'm responsible for performance reporting and help with the day–to–day running of the desk. Keeping an eye on the markets is the most interesting part of my job and because I work alongside a portfolio manager, I'm fully involved in decision making processes. The best thing is I'm in a position to see the development of portfolios around market events. There's a lot to take on board, so I'm constantly learning and developing my own opinions."
