Working in Executive and Organisational Development (EOD) is exciting because it's so new. "Right now, I'm an Analyst. So I do a lot of research including everything from media reviews to looking at academic HR or demographic research. I also design and conduct internal research. For example, I've just done a survey of colleagues experiencing a major business change. We've gained information we can share across HBOS that will help us all learn about change and how we should manage it. My HR Development Partner has really helped me by organising my placements and scheduling workshops. From generic skills like time management to working alongside professionals that can help me to learn, I've enjoyed both opportunities and the time I need to build my skills."

"I feel good about arriving at work. There's always a new challenge ahead."

A job in this area takes a range of different abilities. "Communication is so important. To do my job well, I need to understand immediately what is being asked and then ensure my answer is clear and easy to understand. That way, my suggestions and ideas are taken more seriously. Being able to plan is also important. That's where the training I've had really makes a difference. Right now, I see myself staying in the operational part of HR and I'm currently working towards my CIPD qualification. In five years time I have every intention of being in a role that's central to delivering our business objectives."
