A positive environment that's equally challenging. "Last year, I moved from Halifax Estate Agency Finance into the Central Planning Team. At HBOS, we have an open and honest culture, so that means people are welcoming and the transition has been great. But there are definitely busy periods where you really have to be prepared to take on new challenges. In fact, every day is different and my role is constantly developing. That said, I deal with a range of different business teams, so having a manager I can trust is important."

I have to manage my time as efficiently as possible. "In this part of the business, meeting deadlines is crucial, so I have to prioritise my workload very carefully. Accuracy also makes a huge difference and I do everything I can to be as precise as possible. Since working in a team is a huge part of our business culture, we also have to think about communication and still stay focused on commercial issues. In fact, I've been working on a project to make retail forecasting more user–friendly and reducing the amount the finance teams have to do during pressurised periods. I've been well supported at every step of the way. Next year, I plan to qualify as an Accountant and get ready to take my career at HBOS even further."
