The operational part of the business provides new challenges every day. "I work in the Collections part of Risk Operations. I began by spending two months going through the basic training – a great grounding in a field that was entirely new to me. I've had a number of roles since that time. I've also worked on strategies that generate tens of millions for the business each month. Mathematical modelling is also an area that has figured in my development. In fact, with this much variety I've had the opportunity to meet different people. I feel I've made a lot of friends."

Wide–ranging skills are the key. "In general, the most valuable thing I've brought to the roles I've had is the ability to understand ideas and information quickly. I'm inquisitive and that helps really makes a difference, too. Analytical skills are also important and I've found myself changing my communication style to suit people at different levels. Right now, I'm really focused on building my technical skills. In a couple of years, I fully expect to be in a senior management position with my own team. The progress really is that fast."
